Connecting mothers to the resources and support they need to heal through connection and loving care.

Here at Babymoon Concierge (BMC), our admin team is consistently looking for opportunities to meet and engage with the local businesses that serve the clientele we love—pregnant and postpartum mothers! It is no secret that the Dallas-Fort Worth area is massive and we often hear from the families we serve that all the options can be overwhelming. It’s true that a simple google search or social media surfing for an hour may lead you to a business that can meet your needs. Sure, you can always try out the business right down the road from you and end up with an experience you are satisfied with. Yet, we find that word-of-mouth referrals are so beneficial to building a village of people that see you and are qualified to meet your needs in intentional ways. We often get calls from our families asking for specific referrals, or our doulas in the home identify a need for a family to seek further support, and we are glad when we can send them to people we trust. One of the greatest needs we hear consistently is mothers seeking support for their mental health in the postpartum season.

The lovely women of Little Love Counseling invited us into their space to hear about their heart for the women we serve everyday: women navigating the seasons of pregnancy and postpartum. Located in Hurst, Texas, they are right down the road from many of our families and available for virtual sessions for those farther away.

What does Little Love Counseling stand for?

The team at Little Love Counseling believes that healing begins with connection. In our time together, they spent ample time getting to know us at BMC and hearing about our own approach to caring for mothers through doula care. It’s clear that their time with you will be no different—their heart is to learn what is unique to each person’s story and foster an environment where sharing is safe and welcome.

The Little Love team acknowledges the many challenges that new mothers and families face and the need for them to be able to show up as they are—messy (hello spit up and leakage!), honest, and wonderfully made. They believe that healing and growth don’t happen in a moment; rather, families need tools to take small steps towards where they want to be. For a new mom, they recognize that simply making the call to set up a mental health check in is a huge milestone in a woman’s healing journey. Creating connections with a doula business like our own at BMC enables us to connect mothers with the support they need right away, because we know that time is not to be wasted when mental health is a battle.

Why would I add another thing to my calendar when I already feel so overwhelmed?

I hear you. Adding another to-do on your calendar can feel overwhelming when you already feel like you’re juggling many other things. Hear me out? Investing in your mental health is worth it. The safe place that Little Love Counseling is cultivating for people in the very season you are walking through allows you to let out a deep sigh. Therapy gives you space to express your emotions, whatever they are, and process the thoughts swirling around in your head. What a good use of an hour or two.

P.S. Don’t let distance be a barrier to receiving quality care. Virtual appointments are available as well!

Why is it hard for me to choose therapy in the postpartum season?

The team at Little Love acknowledged that there are many barriers to receiving care in these seasons of motherhood. You may relate to the following reasons:

  • Feeling shame or guilt

  • Thinking it means you are a “bad mom”

  • Cost of therapy

  • Access to quality care

  • Thoughts similar to “everyone must experience this, it will pass in time”

  • The mental and logistical gymnastics that sometimes go into arriving at appointments

  • Lack of childcare

Choosing to take the step to begin therapy can feel big. And IT IS! Overcoming these barriers to pursue health is not a small thing. Remember that all things happen one step at a time. Let the therapists at Little Love know where you are coming from and go from there.

How common is it to need extra support through therapy?

You are not the first women to experience the wide range of emotions, transitions, and biological shifts that happen in motherhood. It affects all of us in different ways. According to the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance:

  • 85% of pregnant or postpartum women experience Baby Blues: typically include emotional sensitivity, weepiness, and / or feeling overwhelmed. Likely associated with the significant changes in hormones in the immediate postpartum period. Resolves without treatment within 2-3 weeks following childbirth.

  • 14% of pregnant or postpartum women experience Depression: change in appetite, sleep, energy, motivation, concentration. Negative thinking including guilt, helplessness, hopelessness, worthlessness. Irritable, angry, rageful. Lack of interest in the baby. Low self‐care. Intrusive or scary thoughts; thoughts of harming self or baby.

  • 6-8% of pregnant or postpartum women experience Anxiety Disorders: feeling easily stressed, worried, overwhelmed, tense. Panic attacks, including shortness of breath, rapid pulse, dizziness, chest or stomach pain. Fear of going crazy or dying. Intrusive or scary thoughts; thoughts of harming self or baby. Fear of going outside. Sleep disturbances; difficulty falling or staying asleep, even if baby is sleeping.

These statistics speak for themselves. You are not alone! On top of those realities listed above, we know that growing our families does not happen in a bubble. We bump into situations and obstacles in our workplace, our marriages, our family dynamics, and our communities every day. A safe place to work through these challenges is vital, and Little Love Counseling offers that to women, children, and families as a whole.
